- Make sure all users of your security system knows how to arm and disarm the system. Memorize your security code and if you accidentally set off your alarm, call the Monitoring Station right away to inform them so they can cancel the Police.
- Make sure your alarm system is in good working condition and inspected periodically by your alarm company. Older systems are prone to send false alarms just due to the age of the system
- If you have doors opened during the day make sure birds and other animals do not get into your building. These critters will activate a motion detector and send a false alarm. This includes pets…you need to put them in a carrier when the alarm system is on.
- Make sure all of your doors are secure and tight. Doors that rattle in the wind will send false alarms. Also make sure you door contacts are adjusted properly. Your security system provider can check these for you.
- Replace your old system with a verified system. A verified Security System allows the Monitoring Station to hear or see actual criminal activity.
